AW4 swap.....

Postby jjstasen » Tue Sep 06, 2011 7:48 am

I found a transmission from a 1992 XJ at a great price.

Can I use the 1992 transmission on my 1999?

I have heard there are some computer things that might prevent me from doing this.

thanks for the help

I'm not sure if it will fit. I took mine to a transmission shop a few years back, but all was good. The shop owner did tell me that the body change from the early 90's to the later 99 and new have 2 different tranys. Some transmissions are jeep and some are Mitsubishi. My 2000 XJ Cherokee has a Mitsubishi. Not sure if this will help. Good luck.
