D-3o carrier help
I have gotten my d-30 out of my xj I have it mostly tore down but I am haveing trouble geting the carrier out. I read on a forum to use rags to between the ring and pinion I tried it. it did wedge it out quite a bit bu not enough. it also mention a case spreader any body got one?
91 XJ 5sp 35x12.5 KM2, 4.5" lift, custom bumpers, warn vr8000, 4.88 G2 gears and iron rock truss ford 8.8 rear 31 spline, trussed hp dana 30 with wj knuckle swap and eaton elocker.

I have a spreader I built for my D44 you are welcome to try or modify if you need to.

Sounds like you need to take 2 pry bars and walk it out. Try prying on the ring gear bolts one bar on top & one @ the bottom against the case.

I dont think I do need a dial indicater. I will be helping Ryan put it back together and he has one. Ryan has been a Huge help to me. He is a true Asset to the club.

I ended up using the "rag method" crossed with some prying with a jack handle.

Ryan is a great asset...your D30 will be in very capable hands! I will bring the spreader in case you need it...it makes it a lot easier to get the carrier back in, especially with the shims.
