New toys coming

Postby fatty » Sat Jan 09, 2010 6:49 am

New Metal Cloak fenders shipped yesterday. Can't wait to get them. Hand throttle to be here on tues as well. Next up is the axle. It's hard to pull the trigger on it since everything has to change at the same time, tires, gears, steering, brakes. Been saving for a year for this step. Say goodbye $$$$$$

Need to think about brakes and steering. New axle will come with discs, any need to upgrade the front as well? What is the best steering upgrade for the tj? Daily driver. Will be on 35's. Please post thoughts and ideas.

Might get a Durango steering box. I think the front brakes will be fine.
Look at that, a SILVER Jeep!

Looks like I got time this weekend for the install of the new fenders and hand throttle. Anyone that wants to come play is welcome. Free beer for anyone that helps. Will be starting around 10 on Sat. Contact me if interested and I will send you directions to the house.

Maybe a YJ steering box? Mine seems to do great <knock on wood> running 38x14.50's. I have no turning radius, but that's because my linkage is poo.

Thanks for the ideas on the steering. I will be looking into the different choices.

New Metal Cloaks are installed  They look incredible. Thanks to Procrastinator for his help in getting them put on. Still having some lighting issues but it should be fixed tomorrow. Will be attempting the hand throttle tomorrow and finishing the lighting. New rear axle and tires should be here next month. Will be picking up super 30 in 2 wks. Its all starting to come together.

So is the YJ or Durango steering box better than the TJ? I need to replace mine and I'm looking for a heavier duty BOLT-IN one from a junk yard. Otherwise I am going to get a HD TJ one on-line but the $250 bucks for the HD box & HD pump hurts alittle, lol.
